The Clubhouse Hotel
On the 13th of June, 1861, a Mr Walter Hugh Tibbits of Dubbo purchased land along the main street of Warren and then sold it again to the Bartley Family, who primarily existed of a widowed mother and her four sons.
Due to the difficulty in managing any profitable business on the land, the Bartley Family sold the land to Edward Readford, a shopkeeper and expierenced tradesman who it is believed is responsible for the construction for the Clubhouse Hotel in 1866. Although the hotel stood for 10 years onwards, it was not officially recognised as a bar until 1876, when the owner of that period Adolf Alexander was seen to have opened the official Clubhouse Hotel & Bar, as announced by John Colley. After a number of reopenings due to fiinancial difficulties, the Clubhouse Hotel started making a sizeable profit that resulted in the rise of value in the property and the changing in ownership over a long period of time, until the great fire of 1899 which damaged the hotel considerably. A temporary bar was set up for some time, until a grand new Clubohouse was to be constructed over the remanents of the old one. However, once built the Clubhouse hotel, although living up to its expectations, drove Mr Alexander bankrupt and therefore the transfer of the hotel to W. Gardiner and Co.
A number of extra transfers occured over the years well into the late 1900's, including the returning of the hotel to the Thompson family briefly, who became into posession of the license two times over the years. Following more renovations all throughout the 1930's and more ownership changes, the Clubhouse hotel has stood firm and held a place in the main street of Warren up until today.
